The notion that somehow righteousness before God could somehow come “by the Law” (by Law keeping) is ridiculous.
However, the false teaching regarding the doctrine of grace that says God is no longer concerned about holy living and that the Christian of the Church Age is liberated from any moral standard of right and wrong is even more ridiculous. The ridiculousness of such heretical teaching is exemplified by the teachings of Jesus Christ in Matthew chapters 5, 6, and 7 and in Luke 6:20-49. Christ’s teaching on grace enablement is not a freedom from rules and standards of right and wrong. Christ’s teachings on grace enablement is that, for the first time since the fall of mankind, a believer can live in partnership with the indwelling Holy Spirit of God through the filling of the Spirit to actually be “made the righteousness of God in him” (II Corinthians 5:21). According to Christ’s teaching on grace the indwelled believer, who is filled with the Spirit, is supernaturally freed from the weakness of carnal flesh and supernaturally enabled and liberated to live righteously in ways far beyond the thou shalt nots of the Law to live in the thou shalt commands of God. All of this was, and is, an impossibility in the power of carnal flesh, but praise God we are no longer in bondage to the powerlessness of carnal flesh once we are “born again.” Church Age believers are empowered and freed to live spiritual lives supernaturally enabled by the indwelling Holy Spirit of God. This miracle is available to every “born again” Christian by simply yielding to the indwelling Holy Spirit and by beginning to simply “live by faith” that He will do in us and through us exactly what Christ promised He would do.
